Besties
"You stayed all night?" my best girl friend in college asked me in the morning, finding me in a the spare bedroom across the hall from her room.
"I...I wasn't sure...I didn't want it to be awkward...you...you were...in the living room and..."
"Sorry," she said, "I...he was kind of in the mood and I guess I forgot you were here..."
"It...it's fine," I said. "I was going to leave when you two went to your room, but..."
"We didn't shut the door," she said.
I nodded. "I...I didn't know what to do," I said.
"We were loud, weren't we?" she asked.
"Kind...kind of," I said.
She sat on the couch, bent down, looked at me. "I didn't mean to do that," she said, "I really thought you'd left."
"It's fine," I lied.
"No it's not," she said with that smile she could give me. "It's like teasing you with the thing you want so badly but that you can't have."
"It's not the one thing I want," I lied.
"Don't lie," she said, tilting her head, giving me that look.
I looked away, giving it away. "I just..."
"I told you we're never doing that," she said.
"I...I know," I said, "I just...why do women go for guys like that?"
She looked at me. "You really want me to answer?"
"N...no," I said, thinking of the sounds they made during the night.
"You didn't...you know..."
"Jennifer!" I yelped.
"I wouldn't mind," she said, "I mean...I'd understand."
"Jennifer, that...that's weird," I said, unable to meet her eyes.
"Look at me," she said.
"Jen..."
"Look at me," she said again.
I turned, met her eyes, looked away. "Did you?" she asked.
"I...I tried not to," I said, a tear in my eye.
"When did you give in?" she asked.
"Jen..."
"When?" she asked.
"I...I don't know," I said.
"Stop," she said, "you know."
"When...when he was...you know...when he was..."
"Fucking me?" she asked.
I nodded. "I tried not to," I said.
"Did you finish?" She looked at the ground, at my balled up shirt. "I assume that's what that is?"
"How can you talk like that?" I asked her.
"Cause I think it's cute," she said, "my bestie all hot and bothered listening to a guy fuck me, knowing he'll never do that."
"Jen..."
"We're going out next Saturday," she said, "if you want to spend the night again, you can...if you don't make a sound."
