Introductions
"You know it's our anniversary next Saturday, right?"
"Anniversary?" I asked my wife, "what do you mean? That's not till October."
"No, silly, not our wedding anniversary, the first date."
"Our first date? I thought that was..."
"Silly, not our first date, our first date. Mark and I went on our first date a year ago Saturday."
"Oh," I said, looking down, thinking. She was right, it had been a year. "I guess...I guess I wasn't keeping track."
She giggled. "I was. Listen, I'd like to do something special."
"Of course," I said, without sounding annoyed. "That...that seems...reasonable. What? Where does he want to take you."
"Us," she said.
"Us?"
"Us," she said. "We're all going to dinner."
"W...why?"
"It will be more natural if you're there."
"More natural?"
"Explaining it."
"Now I'm confused," I said.
"Sorry," she smiled, "I guess I missed a step, didn't I."
"I think so," I said.
"We...Mark, you, and me, are going to dinner with my mother."
"Your mother?" I gasped.
She nodded. "It's been a year," she said, "I think it's time."
"Time to what?"
"To introduce my mother to my boyfriend, silly," she said.
"Well of course she knows that I have a boyfriend, it's just that she's never met him yet. It came out when she recognised what the key on my necklace was for. I didn't know, but apparently she kept Dad locked up too. But be warned she's getting very keen on having grandchildren and I'm pretty sure she'll be quizzing Mark about if he's going to be giving them to her if you're kept in chastity."
