Morning

I walked into the bedroom, quietly, not wanting to wake my wife, but she was already stirring. Hearing my footsteps, she turned towards me with a smile on her face, but it quickly evaporated when she saw me. I saw her face turn into a slight frown as she pulled the covers up, hiding her naked body.

"Sorry, I...I didn't mean to wake you," I said.

"It's fine," she said, "have you been up long?"

"A...a few hours," I said.

She looked around. "Where's Mark?" she asked.

"He...he left about an hour ago," I said.

"Oh," she said, clearly disappointed he wasn't there next to her when she woke up.

"I...I brought coffee," I said, pointing to the tray in the corner.

She saw the good china pot and mug. "Fancy," she said. "Were you up when he got up?"

I nodded. "Yea," I said. She got a devilish smile on her face. "What?" I asked.

"Nothing," she said, "just imagining my husband and my lover spending the morning together. What were you two doing? Did you talk?"

"I...I made him breakfast," I said.

She perked up. "You had breakfast with him or made breakfast for him?" she asked.

I looked down, realized what she was driving at. "I...I made breakfast for him," I said.

"And like served him?"

"Y...yes," I said.

"Did he ask?"

"I...I offered," I said.

"Sweetie, you're such a good boy," she said, obviously pleased, "thank you, I know it must be awkward having him here in the morning, I appreciate you making him feel at home."

"I just..." I wanted to ask her, wanted to tell her the truth, that I hoped by being polite to Mark she might reciprocate and allow me release. She clearly knew this, but didn't give me the satisfaction.

"Did you wear one of your new aprons when you served him?"

"Yes, I...I assumed you'd have wanted me to."

She nodded. "A boy should show deference to his wife's lover."
