I watched as the saleswoman opened a drawer full of bras and took out a pale peach, lace trimmed bra. "Something like this?" she asked my wife.
"Goodness," my wife said, "that...that's adorable. Is it part of a set?"
"Of course," the saleswoman said, "everything we sell is part of a full set...panties in multiple styles, garter belts, slips, camis, tap pants..."
"Hon," my wife turned to me, "what do you think?"
I ignored everything the saleswoman just said about a set; I was too focused on the bra. "It...it's so...feminine," I swallowed.
"It's a bra," my wife smiled, "of course it's feminine."
"But its...p...padded," I said.
"Most are these days," the saleswoman said, "we have few that aren't but not in A cup; most women with smaller cups prefer padding."
"But...but it would...show," I said, looking down at my dress shirt, thinking how my wife's bras showed through her dress shirts.
"I suppose it would," my wife agreed. I sighed, thinking she saw it from my perspective. "I like that style," my wife said to the saleswoman, "are there other colors or similar styles?"
"In addition to or in place of?"
"Oh, in addition to," my wife said, "we'll definitely take that one, but let's see the other colors and similar styles, too. I mean, we're going to need a least, what, a dozen?"
"An...Angela," I begged, "please, people...people will...will see I'm...I'm wearing a bra."
Angela looked at me. "That's kind of the point," she said, "he wants clear boundaries; we're not hiding your feminization, we're emphasizing it define roles."
"But...but people will think..."
"That you have a different role? That's reality, isn't it? Playing husband is the illusion. Besides, we've made up our minds. Now don't be difficult, this isn't something new, it's just acknowledging reality."
The saleswoman smirked but said nothing about that topic; she was practical. "I assume you're replacing everything?" she asked.
"Yes," my wife said, "we're switching to all feminine undergarments."
"You'll want a full set for everything, then?"
My wife pondered. "Everything," she said.
The saleswoman gave my wife a knowing smile. "It's better that way, no confusion."
