New Year's Date Night

"Should...should I wait up?" you ask your wife, watching her dress for her New Year's Eve date with her boyfriend, "I mean, if it's not too late, I will."

She looks at you with that look she gets, giggles, looks down. "Sweetie, I'm spending the night with him," she says, excited to start the new year with an overnight date with him."

"You...you are?" you ask in that soft, puppy-dog voice you get.

"It's New Year's Eve," she says, "there's no sense being out on the roads after midnight. We'll probably sleep in and grab brunch; I'll be home sometime early afternoon. We'll spend the rest of the day together."
